A bad day.

In about 20 min. I'm supposed to be arriving at the SLC airport with my 4 children to visit family and friends. Unfortunately, I'm home writing this post awaiting the call from 3 of my children who will be arriving at the SLC airport. Why you ask? Yesterday Brady had a lacrosse game and got checked from behind. All his weight transferred to the right ball of his foot and it folded like a piece of paper - the wrong way! Of course it happened to be one of the only games I've missed of Brady's. I got a call from one of the parents and as quick as I could got over to the school. I took him to urgent care where we learned the bad news that it was broken. The physican referred us to an orthopedic and said we should get over there tonight since we were leaving on a plane in the morning. I debated going cause I knew they wouldn't cast him with it still swollen. After calling the Dr.'s office I decided to take him because I knew they would at least splint it. We got to Dr.'s around 8:30pm. (Why do these things always happen at the wrong time!) They took more x-rays and learned that it was no simple break. His first metatarsle broke unevenly and compacted up against the bone. He also broke a bone in his second metatarsle. The doctor told me that as soon as the swelling went down the bones would have to be set. That means surgery at the end of the week. He highly recommended not getting on a plane. I then started to go over in my mind our options. Yes we could find a doctor in SLC to do the operation, but the flying up and down will cause more swelling and he would be absolutely miserable. Should we have everyone stay home and skip the trip over trackout? Could we get a refund for our tickets? Blah, blah, blah! After many tears, going over it with Mark on the phone (that's right! He's out of town.) and calling the airline we decided that Bryson, Lacie and Carston would still go and I would stay home with Brady so he could have the surgery. I stayed up all night packing them because, of course, I was supposed to be packing all the time we spent at the Dr's office. I woke the kids up at 5am, told them the plan and rushed them to the airport. Thankfully, the lady at the check-in desk gave us vouchers worth Brady and my plane ticket. (Something the airline on the phone last night said they wouldn't do.) I got my 3 brave kids to the plane and a little teary-eyed they boarded. Now I wait to hear if they got there okay. I'm off to the Dr. with Brady. More later.

April club extra!

We made a box-in-a-bag as an extra for club and they all turned out sooooo cute! I used the Darling Dots DSP and everyone got to pick what pattern they wanted.
You begin with a 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch square. Score the cardstock at 1 inch on each side. Then slit one of the corner score lines at each corner.

Simply fold up the sides and tape the sides together. You should have a little box like this...
Cut one piece of DSP at 6x11 inches. Attach adhesive to bottom and one side of the 6x11 DSP.
Then, starting at the middle of one side of the box, begin attaching the DSP until you have attached it to all sides. Finish with the adhesive going up the the 6 inch side.

Cut a 1-1/4 x 11 inch strip of paper. Scallop the long side using the scallop edge punch. Apply rub-ons if you'd like. Add adhesive to the strip and wrap it around the base of the bag.

Punch two tabs from the rounded tab punch. Fold in half and adhere one to the front middle of the bag and one to the back middle. Punch a hole with a hole punch and insert ribbon. I included a tag made from the Seeing Spots stamp set.

The second card was made from the So Tweet chipboard that I absolutely love! I let each person decide if they wanted to make an owl or bird card. They were so much fun to make!

Entry hall

I put this vinyl tree up in my hallway. Both it and the saying are from Stampin Up! I'm so pleased with it! Their vinyl is addicting. Can't wait to add more!

Funny!

Pie for dinner? My kids were all about doing pranks today so I thought I'd do a little one of my own. I made this beautiful pie for dinner! It was meatloaf baked in a pie crust topped with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes had a small amount of beets blended up and mixed into them. It made it such a pretty pink color. It was yummy!

Then Lacie and I made sushi out of rice crispies rolled around a gummy worm, cut into sections and wrapped with fruit by the foot. They were yummy as well! Both recipies I got from Family Fun.
