40th Birthday Cake

I made this candy bar cake out of Twix fun size and mini candy bars for a good friend who just turned 40! I think the colors turned out cute. TFL!

May Club

My how life gets busy! Sorry it's been a while since I've posted, life has been crazy and will continue to be through next week. But, we had our club yesterday and had a great time making masculine cards. They were simple, but turned out great. Hope you like!

Dish Drainer

One of my good friends has been out of a dishwasher for months. I thought I'd help make her life a little easier (because she helps me in so many ways) by giving her a dish drainer for Mother's Day. But you can't give someone a plain old dish drainer, right? It had to be cute and that meant floral ribbon. I don't know about you, but I can't go into a craft store and pass up ribbon that is on sale! I just love mixing and matching and finding what looks cute together. I think it's a sickness! So I got busy decorating, adding flowers and ribbons. Then I decided I needed a card and my new Sizzlits "Garden Delight" was the perfect match! I'm so tickled about how it turned out! I hope she loves it!

Recipe book

I've been very busy the last few days working on a recipe book for my niece who is getting married at the end of the month. There is a shower for her this weekend so I asked everyone invited to send me one of their favorite recipes that we could share with her. Unfortunately, I didn't receive many responses but I decided to add some of my favorites. For each divider (ie. breads or main dishes) I added a quote that talks about the importance of family meals. I hope she loves it! It made me want to make one of my own. I used the Summer Home Simply Scrappin' kit from last falls catalog to put it together. I just love that kit!

Mother's Day

Mom, don't look! I actually think she's too busy with my kids to be checking my blog so I'm hoping I'm okay to post this. I'm starting to use my aqua painter more and really liking it. My inspiration for this was from Karen Barber and her card here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1096724 Mine doesn't come close, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. I have a wonderful mother and am grateful for all she does. I hope to somehow convey that with this card. Here's to all the wonderful mothers out there and to all who have blessed my life. Thank you for the choice you made to be a mother!

Basket w/o scallop envelope die

So I've loved the baskets people have created on Splitcoast with the scallop envelope die from Sizzix, but I haven't taken the plunge yet to get the Big Shot. The more I thought about it I realized I could make something similar by cutting paper and using my scallop edge punch. Here's what I came up with. I'm sure it took me a little longer to create since I didn't have the die, but I'm okay with that right now.

Wish you weren't here!

Ha! Ha! My good friend brought me flowers and said she looked for a note that said "Wish you weren't here!" I love it! So sweet and thoughtful! Some other friends have stopped by bringing Brady ice cream, bread and other good things. Our neighbor has loaned us their Wii, I just need to set it up.

Brady's surgery was today and all went well. The Dr. put 2 pins in his foot. I guess the best part of all this is that Brady is tracked out and doesn't go back to school for another week and a half. (Brady might not think that's all that great, but the thought of him getting around right after surgery in a school doesn't sound like a great idea to me.) I forgot to take my camera to the hospital so I took pictures with the camera on my phone. Unfortunately I have no clue how to download them. Oh well! I'll ask Mark.
